Only as we rise . . .
I want to deeply thank everyone who supported me and worked to make our campaign a success. We ran a campaign based on integrity, justice, good will, and hope. I feel great respect and solidarity with the people who believed in me and the campaign platform and I am grateful for how this process has made us stronger. I will continue to work for the underdog, on the side of the people, dug in the grassroots, and firmly committed to universal liberation, racial and economic justice, and a truly progressive city. I remain humbled and inspired by those of you who face great challenges and continue to give a damn about each other and our communities. While we did not win this time, we made a positive impact on the Third District Alder race, and, true to form, we comforted the afflicted and afflicted the comfortable. Don’t be strangers and we will continue to do so much together. Thank you and much respect.
“Be not discouraged. There is a future for you. . . . The resistance encountered now predicates hope. . . . Only as we rise . . . do we encounter opposition.” - Frederick Douglass
Yours,
Matt Nelson

Bus Drivers Endorse Matt Nelson
Milwaukee, WI. Matt Nelson’s campaign for 3rd District Alder rides on with a crucial endorsement from the Amalgamated Transit Union representing Milwaukee County bus drivers and transit workers.
“We pride ourselves in supporting political champions whom work for the good of the people as well as the institutions being served. We believe in your candidacy! We hope your campaigning efforts breath and live in the expectation of victory. We know the opportunity to serve the people is near,” stated the endorsement.
Matt Nelson is the only candidate in the 3rd District race to put forth a comprehensive plan to improve public transportation.
“Good quality public transportation that is accessible to Milwaukeeans will positively impact the economic development in our city and has the power to bridge gaps in social and economic mobility, address racial segregation, improve physical mobility options for those who cannot drive, improve our environment, reduce traffic congestion, and lower the costs of many public services,” explained Nelson

Party for the people!
Saturday, February 9, 2008 7-11pm
Brewing Grounds for Change, 2008 N. Farwell Avenue, 414.273.9777
Yes, it’s party time. I believe that to mobilize for change in our government, we must offer more than dry meetings with patronizing leadership, pandering liberals, and arrogant conservatives who attempt to contain real transformation. I understand that fighting for what is right and just is as personal as it is political and societal. So let’s party, bring your friends and family! The event is also a fundraiser for the Matt Nelson for Alder campaign, so come prepared to donate and volunteer.
